Payment Methods

Go to SettingsCompanies, then click the Settings button in the list of managed companies. Next, click on Configure for the "Booking Payment Methods" section. You can enable or disable any of the available payment methods. Let’s review them in detail:

 

Credit Card - View Only

By enabling this option, you can immediately receive confirmed bookings with a credit card as a guarantee.

You can also:

  • Choose the credit card networks accepted.
  • Write additional payments terms and conditions.

⚠️ Attention: At this stage, the guest can book using any credit or debit card from the selected networks. No transaction is made at the time of booking. It is the responsibility of the property to verify the availability of sufficient funds on the credit card, typically via a pre-authorisation (a function available on your physical POS terminal).

✅ A booking made with a credit card will be automatically confirmed for the guest.

 

Credit Card - Stripe

Integrating this option gives you all the benefits of the "view only" credit card feature, but also allows you to use the services offered by Stripe, including:

  • Verifying the credit card via pre-authorisation directly from the booking modification form in CiaoBooking.
  • SCA (Strong Customer Authentication), eliminating the risk of payment disputes by the guest.
  • MOTO (Mail Order Telephone Order), immediate charging with real-time confirmation of the transaction result on the credit card.
  • Payment of the booking balance at any time via the CiaoBooking Customer Portal.
  • Payment of the tourist tax via the Self Check-in function in CiaoBooking.

✅ A booking made with a credit card will be automatically confirmed for the guest.

 

Bank Transfer

By enabling this payment method, you will display your bank details to guests. This allows them to make a bank transfer for a deposit (if you use deposits) or the total amount.

You can also specify:

  • Advance Days: e.g., 5 days → the option to pay by bank transfer will appear only if the check-in date is more than 5 days from today.
  • Only for not refundable: this option appears only if all the selected options by the guest are non-refundable.

⚠️ Attention: A booking made with a bank transfer must be confirmed by you on the booking modification screen. Generally, bookings need to be confirmed after verifying the receipt of the amount in your bank account. We recommend adding your bank details to the "Pending Reservation" email template. This email is automatically sent (if active) to all guests who book using a bank transfer. This way, they will always have access to the payment details later on.

 

Cash/On Arrival

By enabling this option, guests can book without any guarantee. "Cash or on arrival" does not mean you accept cash, but rather that you allow your guests to make a booking without using a credit card.

This option should be seen as a simplification of the steps needed to complete the booking for the guest.

You can limit this option using two settings:

  • Mobile Only: If enabled, only those booking via smartphone will have the option to book without a guarantee (such as a credit card or bank transfer).
  • Advance Days: You can set a "release date" for this option. If you set "2" days, it means that for bookings with a check-in date within the next 2 days, the option to book without guarantees (like a credit card or bank transfer) will be available.

✅ A booking made with Cash/On Arrival will be automatically confirmed for the guest.

 

Credit Card - NEXI

To activate this feature, please contact our support team via chat or ticket.

This feature is an alternative to Stripe but does NOT allow the following:

  • Payment of the booking balance at any time via the Customer Portal in CiaoBooking.
  • Payment of the tourist tax via the Self Check-in function in CiaoBooking.
